The latest addition to the Keecie collection: the Plant Sitter

How did you come up with the idea for this bag?

Someone came to the Keecie Studio, an elegant little client, and she wanted to buy a work bag. I showed her the Back Yard , which other clients often buy as a computer bag. When she put the bag on, I thought it was quite big on her. I then came up with the idea to design a more compact work bag, which fits a 13 inch Macbook exactly, but in which you also don't take too much with you. Because: the bigger the bag, the more you will take with you.

The Plant Sitter fits exactly what you need, your laptop, possibly a charger, a notebook, a pencil, your wallet and your phone. So no apples or lunch boxes... the bag is small, slim and elegant. That makes it nice and light.

You can wear it in different ways, a bit shorter on your body. Then you wear it on your back as a messenger bag or on your stomach as a fanny pack. (Just like the Lazy Boy , the Little Fox , and our new bag, the Double Up .) But of course you can also just wear it cross-body.

How did the print come about?

During a brainstorming session at our studio, we sketched possible prints. We came up with the idea to do something with the calming effect of plants. Plants give you oxygen and energy, and you can use that during a working day. And the great thing is: these plants fortunately require little care!

How does it actually go from draft design to final product?

The final product is created in close collaboration with our sewing studio in Poland. We go to Poland once a year, we do a lot via zoom and sometimes we send short videos in which we explain what we mean. We make the first sample ourselves in Amsterdam and then a number of samples are sent to us from Poland. In this way we refine the design together.

An example: with the last sample that the studio sent, I found that the zipper did not fit so nicely in the bag. We sent them a video of that detail. Then they came up with a nice new solution. I am very happy with the nice little tab that is now on the zipper. With that you pull the zipper tight while you close it with the leather runner.

A bag for everyone

Our goal was to create a unisex bag. The shape and size are neutral and the bag has a timeless look. Because of its sleek look, it can be worn by everyone and you can enjoy it for years!
