In conversation with Klaartje de Hartog, the creative brain behind Keecie.
What inspired you to design this bag?
I wanted to create a bag that would complement our existing Keecie collection. Our customers already love the Wish Tree , a spacious shoulder bag, and the Little Fox , a compact and elegant cross-body evening bag. I wanted to create a variant that offers a bit more space than the Little Fox , but can still be worn as a stylish cross-body bag.
The Wild Swan is a beautiful addition to our line. All bags in this collection have the same features: a snap fastener system and a large front flap, which makes them combinable. Our Small Wishes wallet fits perfectly in this new bag! This way you can play with color combinations, whether you go for neutral shades, tone-on-tone or striking, contrasting colors from the 13 Keecie colors .
How do you get from the first idea to a real bag?
I listen to any requests for new bags that I get from customers. Then I look at which bag would be a nice addition to the Keecie collection. Then I make the first sketches in my book, and quickly cut a model, to 'feel' the size and make any adjustments.
How did you come up with the idea for a swan print?
The print makes a Keecie bag truly unique. When walking Yuki my dog I am always enchanted by the swans that move so calmly and elegantly through the water. I really wanted to make a print of that. The swan fits well with the other animal and botanical prints in the Keecie collection.
Can you tell us something about the production process?
When my sewing studio has made a test model and I have tested the bag myself, the bag can go into production. The studio also makes the screen prints and they often send me photos during the process. It is always a treat to see how the new bags are made and how the print turns out on the different colors of leather.
What makes the Wild Swan special?
Don't be fooled by its compact size. This little bag offers more space than you might expect. I made the bottom extra wide and it has a 'double bottom': the bottom is reinforced so that the bag stays upright when you put it down.
This special bottom ensures that it fits more than you would expect from such a timeless women's bag. It offers enough space for all your essentials. There is a large main compartment for your daily necessities: your keys, make-up and even your sunglasses! Inside is another lockable compartment with a zipper for a small wallet such as the Small Wishes from the same series or a Mini Me card holder. And in the wide front pocket you can easily fit your phone or a notebook.

The Wild Swan is a wonderfully compact and versatile model! You can use it daily, but it is also a handy crossbody bag during a city trip or to a festival. Because this ladies bag With a slightly vintage look, it goes with every outfit: from cool with a casual outfit to elegant when you go out in a beautiful party outfit.
